Product Description

Butachlor, chemically known as N-(butoxymethyl)-2,6-diethylaniline, is a selective pre-emergence herbicide that prevents germination and growth of weeds mainly by inhibiting protein synthesis in their seeds. It belongs to the amide herbicide class, with broad-spectrum, can effectively control a variety of annual grass weeds and some broadleaf weeds, and is relatively safe for rice and other grass crops. Butachlor usually exists in the form of emulsifiable concentrate or granules, which is easy to use in the field.

Applications in agricultural production

1. **Highly efficient weed control**: The biggest advantage of butachlor is its strong weed control ability. Appropriate application of butachlor before and after transplanting or before sowing in direct-directed rice fields can effectively inhibit the growth of weeds, create a favorable environment for the growth of rice, reduce the competition between weeds and rice, and thus improve the yield and quality of rice.

2. **Easy to operate**: Butachlor is relatively easy to use, farmers only need to follow the recommended dosage and method of application to achieve the desired weed control effect. This greatly reduces labor costs and improves agricultural productivity.

3. **Good economy**: Butachlor has significant economic advantages over manual weeding or other high-cost weed control methods. Its lower purchase and use costs make it affordable and readily adopted by a wide range of farmers.

Environmental impacts and risks of butachlor

Although butachlor plays an important role in agricultural production, its impact on the environment cannot be ignored.

1. **Soil Pollution**: Long-term excessive use of butachlor will lead to soil residues, destroying the structure of soil microbial communities and affecting soil fertility and crop root development. In addition, butachlor may also enter groundwater through soil infiltration, threatening drinking water safety.

2. **Pollution of water bodies**: During rainfall or irrigation, butachlor may enter surface water bodies with runoff, causing damage to aquatic ecosystems. It affects the photosynthesis of aquatic plants and inhibits the growth of algae, which in turn affects the entire aquatic food chain.

3. **Ecotoxicity**: Butachlor is also toxic to some non-target organisms and may accumulate through the food chain, causing harm to higher organisms. In addition, long-term exposure to butachlor may pose potential risks to human health, such as causing skin irritation and allergic reactions.
