Can pesticides be used after the expiration date?

Release time:Sep 19,2024

Pesticides can still be used after the expiration date, but it is necessary to properly adjust the dosage and use according to the state of the pesticide and scientific methods.

The shelf life of pesticides is based on the expected control effect on plant pests and diseases under normal dosage, but the expiration date does not mean that the pesticide is completely ineffective or spoiled. Many expired pesticides, as long as the dosage symptoms do not change (such as powder does not caking, suspension agent does not stratify, etc.), through the appropriate increase in the use of dosage, and in strict accordance with the scientific method of use, can still achieve a certain insecticidal, disease prevention effect. For example, if the pesticide powder does not clump, the oil agent does not precipitate, etc., the dosage can be increased appropriately to ensure efficacy. In addition, adjusting the dosage according to the growth stage of the crop is also key, especially in the seedling stage of the crop, due to the small leaf area, the dosage should be reduced accordingly, but in the other growth stages can be appropriately increased in the amount of expired pesticides.

It should be noted that the use of obsolete pesticides should be cautious, the initial use should be sprayed in accordance with the guidance dosage, and the insecticidal and disease prevention effects should be observed after use. If the effect is not satisfactory, you can increase the dosage appropriately in the follow-up; if the effect is still not obvious, you need to consider replacing the pesticide or alternate use. At the same time, the spraying of pesticides should be kept in the air chamber pressure scale line, to ensure that the drug mist is fine and can be uniformly attached to the front and back of the leaves, avoid multiple spraying in a short period of time to prevent drug damage.

From an environmental and economic point of view, the expired pesticides “used up” than the destruction is more appropriate, especially in view of the toxicity of pesticides, pollution, destruction costs are high. Therefore, for the inability to use or master the use of expired pesticides, should be harmless disposal.

In short, expired pesticides are not uniformly unavailable, the key is to correctly determine the state of the pesticide, and appropriately adjust the use of methods and dosages to ensure safety and effectiveness!
